“Lifting the Lid” on More Bread and Fish

Loaves & Fishes , News

February 8, 2012

Praise the Lord! I have another milestone to report. We are finishing up editing and design on the next issue of Loaves & Fishes (volume 10, issue 1). The Lord is always faithful, and preparing this issue was no exception. Even when progress is slower and more difficult than we wish, we can rest assured God has a plan and His plan is always best.

The previous issue was mailed out the end of November. To reach our goal of a quarterly schedule, this new issue would have to go out by the end of this month, which means we should start printing now.

We still lack around $8,000 to move ahead with the printing. The total printing cost will be around $17,000. The postage will be another $9,000–10,000.

I am very grateful that you share the vision of publishing literature for those in prison. It is exciting to realize what has and can be done when we work together in the Kingdom of God.

Pulling Together in the New Year

News

Starting a new year somehow pushes a reset button in my mind and life seems fresh and new. How exciting to turn over a fresh page with renewed goals, eager to make use of the opportunities ahead.

We have no clear idea how much time is left before the night comes and our work will be over. We don’t know if our work with Loaves & Fishes will be ended by the plans of men in this godless society.  But we fully suspect that time is running out.

We have a mission, a purpose, and a plan. By God’s grace, we will relentlessly persevere until our work is done.

Loaves & Fishes Mailing Photos

Loaves & Fishes , News

In my previous post, I mentioned that Loaves & Fishes volume 9, issue 1 just went out. Here are some photos of the mailing process.

With the help of volunteers, we were able to prepare the mailing in only two days. We want to thank each one who helped, especially my in-laws (Dan Stoltzfus family) from New York who were down for Thanksgiving.

For the Kingdom,

Gifts for the Forgotten

Loaves & Fishes , News

Today marks an exciting milestone for us. Another issue of Loaves & Fishes magazine (09/01) is out the door. The mail truck picked up the entire shipment this morning, and the books are headed for hundreds of prisons and jails across the USA. Praise the Lord!

It is rewarding to see Loaves & Fishes go into the prisons again. We work hard to make every issue of Loaves & Fishes a genuine work of love for the prisoners. My prayer is that each one who reads this issue would feel God’s touch and sense the gift of His love in a personal way.

For many people, December is a cozy time of the year with extra focus on family time, special food, and gifts. At the same time, many prisoners in our country feel lonely and would give a lot to be home again, to snuggle with their children on the couch or share some hot chocolate with their spouse. A gift of love, a touch of home, would mean more than words can tell.
